Q: Where exactly should I go?
A: Come to the Canvas Gallery (AKA The Idea Factory (AKA The Lodge)) at Garver Feed Mill (3241 Garver Green - Madison, WI - USA - Planet Earth). The Gallery Doors will be closed (but unlocked) and the lights will be lower, just open the door, come in, and you will find The Lodge.
Q: The Lodge is Members Only, but my significant other, kid, parent, etc. doesn’t know about The Lodge, what should i tell them? Can they come along?
A: The Lodge should be fun, we don’t want to make it weird or hard for you to attend Lodge Meetings. If the special person in your life is an Idea Factory Member, and it makes sense, then you could point them toward the vanishing circles on the Idea Factory Member’s Only webpage. If that’s going to be too tricky in your situation you are welcome to more directly share with them what you have learned about The Lodge and even bring them along. You shouldn’t directly tell or bring along random friends, this just applies to significant others, kids, parents, etc. Parents, feel free to bring kids, mine (Trent’s) may or may not be there, but all are welcome.
Q: What will happen at this first Lodge Meeting?
A: There will be short introductions so you can get to know other Lodge members. Pizza and drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol options) will be provided. You will receive a special small commemorative art piece for being one of the first people to discover The Lodge. You can come for the full evening or just stop by for part of it.
Q: I can’t come, but would like the small commemorative art piece.
A: Trent will make sure all Lodge Members get their art piece whether they attend the meeting or not.
Q: I would love to attend but live far away from Madison, WI, are there any options for me?
A: At this time there are no virtual (zoom, etc.) options to attend meetings, but there will be meeting notes posted on the Lodge website after any official Lodge Meeting.
Q: What’s up with Lodge 49?
A: As noted in the introduction page to The Lodge, we are very closely tied to Lodge 49, The Ancient and Benevolent Order of The Lynx (Long Beach, CA). Since we are so closely tied to Lodge 49 it seems important to watch the show…and watching as a group, with those who are able, should be fun! Lodge 49 is rated TV14, so while it’s not a strictly an adult show, it’s also not a show that younger kids would enjoy/comprehend. If you are unable to watch with the group, but interested in watching the show, talk to Trent, he will tell you the options.
Q: This is a secret society, will there be secret rituals and weird customs that I need to learn?
A: No, probably not, definitely, maybe.
Q: Is there a special Lodge name I should go by during Lodge Gatherings?
A: There will be nametags for you to write your name on, and your connected small English/Latin card will be there for you to reference if needed. In settings with other Lodge Members it is up to each member to decide if they would like to be referred to as their member number, connected phrase from the English/Latin card seen when joining The Idea Factory (or part of the phrase), or their given brith name.
